Conversation entre Frédéric Glon et Elina Cerla
On January 20, 2025, Donald Trump revived a slogan first launched in 2008 to promote the exploitation of oil and gas during his inaugural speech, and announced the withdrawal of the United States from the Paris Agreement on climate change.
Disenchanted, ironic, and committed, Frédéric Glon casts a lucid gaze on our world—one that remains tinged with a certain tenderness for the human beings who waver between creation and destruction.
A sculptor for historical films in both American and French cinema, his technical virtuosity is in constant evolution. As a props designer for advertising, he is intimately familiar with the mechanisms of merchandising that drive overproduction and overconsumption.
His personal work challenges this fabricated reality.
In this exhibition, we step into the world of his drawings and prints, filled with biting humor: fake advertisements stripped of the emotional triggers—colors and symbols—that usually seduce consumers.
A passionate student of history, Glon also presents his newly completed graphic novel, Le Politicien, which draws us into a world where documented history and fantastic imagination intersect—offering a light touch on serious subjects, without ever losing their critical edge.
The Second Skin was selected for the 2025 Annual Juried Member Exhibition, curated by Martin Garcia Rivera and Ada Rosa Rivera, as part of the PUERTOGRABANDO 2025 International Printmaking Conference (April 2nd–5th), a major gathering for printmakers from around the world.
The work is now part of the Liga’s permanent collection.
Participation in the Swiss art fair was supported by SwissArtExpo, as part of the award granted through the Artybox competition.
